Earlier this year, I was at Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA for an Acts29 Network event.  For those who do not know, Acts29 is a missional church planting movement.  Terra Nova has been supported by the network and participates in the network.  We serve as a hub for churches in the northeast that range from Philly to Portland, ME.

While at the event, I was asked to come into a room and read a portion of the Heidelberg Catechism.  The catechism is a 16th century document, a product of reformation thought and theology.  It is set up as a series of questions and answers and designed to educate a person in Christian theology.

I was being recorded to be a part of a collection of pastors, theologians, and media personalities who completed a podcasted reading of the catechism.  The completed version is available on itunes.

Here is what The Resurgence website says about the project:

Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Catechism was divided up into 52 sections and will be read by pastors, professors and other godly men and women in the Church. The Heidelberg Catechism has been translated into many languages and is the most influential and most generally accepted catechism from the Reformation era. The desire of Resurgence is that believers in Jesus Christ stay biblically faithful while reaching people in their community and we believe this project will give support in this missional life. For more information, history and verses of the Heidelberg Catechism see Pastor Gary Shavey’s blog post: Resurgence Presents the Heidelberg Catechism.
