Something that we pastors at Terra Nova try to model and live out is knowing our neighbors. At the office, this means our neighbors on the block. One of our closest neighbors is The Taproom at Brown’s Brewing Company. I often refer to this as our Cafeteria. It’s also the home of Terra Nova’s “theology at the taproom” which is often seeing as many as 35 people gathering once a month to discuss the classics of theology over a pint (think C.S. Lewis and the Inklings minus the cool British accents). Recently, Kelly Brown (one of the owner’s) came to us and asked if we would be willing to perform the traditional “blessing of the bar” on St. Patrick’s Day, complete with bagpipe procession. We did not have to think about it one bit. The answer was yes. So, with hundreds gathered, Ed Marcelle pronounced a blessing upon our neighbors and their establishment that has become a regular spot for many terra novians. We asked Roman Jaquez–a film maker who attends Terra Nova–to get it down on tape for us.
