Anticipation…it’s making me wait… // November 04, 2005

It’s amazing to think we’ve been going 4 weeks now. I have to say I love my job. Even the stress of it is part of the process (and certainly better than rolling Sherwin Williams #6345 Interactive Cream (Flat) on another living room wall….). I anticipate a lot of things coming down the road.

I anticipate this Advent season to be a powerful time. Like the viewing of the fall foliage, I find myself at the end of the Christmas season wishing I had lived in the moment more and taken it all in, but of course was too busy. This year I vow not to miss it. I will dwell on the anticipation of the Christ-child, not jumping ahead to the birth, but enjoying the tension of the not yet. The same joy, wonder, and nervousness an expecting mother experiences for nine months. I will try to live in the red zone (more on the zones in future sermons) and imagine what it was like for Joseph, Mary, shepherds, etc, to look towards a birth, but not know the end of the story. I will try to really connect with the Church Advent themes (Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love) and allow God to deepen my understanding of them.

I anticipate January 8, and our debut at Revolution Hall in Troy. This feels like the real beginning, the time when you move out of the basement apartment in your parent’s house, and into your own place. I’m excited to see this growing community at Terra incarnate to the people in the village of Troy and the people that will become aware of this different kind of spiritual community. And heck, maybe we’ll pick up a little of the energy still lingering from the Matisyahu show.……

Great things are ahead and great things are happening as we speak. Well, gotta go pick out colors for our offices………..maybe Interactive Cream………
